Mrs Karen Harrison-Phipps is a leading consultant thoracic surgeon based in London. Specialising in lung cancer, mesothelioma and mediastinal tumours, she is also an expert in chestwall deformity, rib fracture and chest trauma. After an engineering degree, Mrs Harrison-Phipps attended Southampton University Medical School where she trained in general surgery and then cardiothoracic surgery in specialist units at Harefields, King’s College and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. She was awarded the McKormack medal for best performance in the 2003 National Cardiothoracic specialty examinations. Mrs Harrison-Phipps completed her final year of thoracic training at the Mayo Clinic, USA and completed her experience in the States at the Cedars Sinaii Hospital, Los Angeles, where she learned advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques for thoracic problems.
