Professor Raman Bedi was an NHS paediatric dental consultant for over 14 years. He currently provides dental care in Harley Street and the BUPA Cromwell hospital. Professor Bedi trains others in paediatric dentistry in five countries and annually runs a senior dental leadership programme, which is a collaboration between Harvard University and King’s College London. He held an honorary chair at University College London where he was the co-director of the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre at the Eastman Dental Institute for 10 years until 2008. Professor Bedi also has an honorary “extraordinary professorship” in paediatric dentistry at the University of Western Cape, South Africa until 2010. He has examined and lectured in over 40 countries. He has published over 190 scientific papers and five books and in 2005 he was given the USA public health service medal. Professor Bedi was also chief dental officer of England from October 2002-2005.
