The Royal Free Hospital

The Royal Free Hospital London, also known by many as simply The Royal Free, is a well-established and esteemed hospital situated near Hampstead Heath in Central London. The hospital is a part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, and offers a wide range of services, including specialist medical services such as robotic-assisted surgery and organ transplantation. The hospital also specialises in areas such as dermatology, paediatrics, gynaecology, as well as orthopaedic surgery. 

The Royal Free hospital was originally founded in 1828 by William Marsden, and as the name suggests, the purpose was to provide care for people who were not able to pay for medical treatment. The purpose was that a person only had to be ill to be accepted into the hospital, and notably, the hospital was the only hospital in London to stay open during the cholera epidemic in the 19th century. The Royal Free has since become one of the most well-known hospitals in London, and continues to provide world-class expert care for its patients.
