In one of our latest articles here below, Dr Sherif El Wakil, a highly experienced and regarded cosmetic doctor, discusses how non-surgical blepharoplasty is generally performed, and tells us what can patients can expect with regards to recovery time afterwards.

How is non-surgical blepharoplasty performed?

The Plexr treatment entails creating a series of extremely small dots on the skin, which triggers an instant contraction and tightening of skin fibres to create a lifting, remodelling and rejuvenating effect. Plexr uses plasma to achieve this.

The principle idea of the Plexr treatment involves the ionisation of gases contained in the air to create a small electrical arc, which can be used to treat specific areas of concern without damaging the surrounding areas or applying any unwanted heat to them. Plasma is much less invasive than laser or diathermy.

Who is a suitable candidate for this treatment option?

Patients who have bags, droopy lids, or loose skin on the upper or lower eye are the ideal candidates for this treatment option. Non-surgical blepharoplasty can be performed on all skin types.

Is it painful?

The treatment is performed using local anaesthetic to minimise any discomfort. As a result, the treatment is virtually pain-free.

How long does it take?

Plexr usually takes around 30 minutes.

What is recovery period like following Plexr treatment?

The advantage of Plexr is that it offers an alternative to surgery, which can be highly invasive, have associated risks, and which also may involve a prolonged downtime. There is minimal downtime associated with the Plexr treatment.

You may have some swelling and redness in the area, which could last for up to two days. You will also experience crusting of the skin in the treated area which should be gone within five to seven days.
