Professor Aris Papageorghiou is an internationally leading expert consultant in fetal medicine and obstetrics who specialises in fetal medicine and ultrasound scanning. Currently, he practises at the highly established London-based Ultrasound Diagnostic Services clinic, located on Harley Street.

Professor Papageorghiou, who splits his time between clinical work and research, is also currently acting as the research director of the Oxford Maternal and Perinatal Health Institute at the University of Oxford. He is an expert in pregnancy ultrasound imaging, screening, fetal diagnosis and therapy. He completed medical school (MB ChB) at The University of Sheffield in 1996, and undertook research towards an MD at the Harris Birthright Unit at King's College, London in 2002. He undertook his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology throughout the London area and received dual accreditation (Obstetrics - Gynaecology and Maternal - Fetal Medicine) after subspecialist training in Maternal Fetal Medicine while also being a lecturer at St George’s Hospital in London.

Professor Papageorghiou is the editor-in-chief of the BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He is also working on incorporating the use of artificial intelligence in ultrasound and is a co-founder and scientific advisor for Intelligent Ultrasound, a company that was designed to train, guide, and support clinicians with artificial intelligence-based image analysis. He is a visiting professor at the Capital Medical University in Beijing, China, and the UK national chair of the Expert Working Group in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for NHS Digital.

His main areas of clinical interest include fetal ultrasound, non-invasive and invasive prenatal diagnosis, fetal therapy, as well as fetal growth and preeclampsia. He is a very active researcher and has, to-date, published over 350 articles with over 18,000 citations to his name.
