Mr Amyn Haji is a highly trained and highly experienced consultant colorectal and general surgeon based in London. He is an expert in interventional endoscopy covering both upper and lower GI endoscopy. Mr Haji's specialised interests include colorectal cancer, polyps, endoscopy, haemorrhoids, hernias, and achalasia. Currently, he is the clinical lead for colorectal surgery and endoscopy at King's College Hospital; London where he is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer.

Graduating from the University of Cambridge, Mr Haji received his primary medical qualification in 1999. He later undertook his basic surgical training at University College London Hospitals and Basildon, before he continued his higher surgical training with King's College Hospital and Essex in North East Thames. Having done extensive clinical research, in 2006 Mr Haji was awarded a Masters in Surgical Science from the University of Kent. He was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2010 and subsequently completed a fellowship in Advanced Colonoscopy at Showa University, Japan. As his clinical research continued, Mr Haji was additionally awarded a Doctorate in Medicine from King's College London in 2011.

Since his fellowship under Professor Kudo in Japan, Mr Haji has developed a skilled practice of endoscopic mucosal resection and endoscopic submucosal dissection in the treatment of colorectal polyps. He uses advanced endoscopic techniques and is an expert in laparascopic general and colorectal surgery, as well as interventional endoscopy. Notably, Mr Haji was the first in the UK to use the peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) technique to treat achalasia.

Presently, Mr Haji's research and clinical interests are focused on the utilisation of high frequency colonoscopy ultrasound in the staging of colorectal polyps and cancer. He has authored and published over 100 papers, one of which he received the 'British Journal of Surgery Prize for Best Paper' award in 2009.

Mr Haji maintains leadership roles and sharing his passion with future junior doctors and fellow doctors in his field. Some of these positions include leading the tertiary referral service of endoscopic resection of gastrointestinal polyps at King's College London, where he is also the Director of Surgery and also leads the interventional luminal endoscopy service.
