Mr Christopher Steer is a leading fertility expert who sees patients at 55 Harley Street, BMI Chelsfield Park Hospital and Lyca Health Orpington. His specialist interests include vaginal repairs, endometrial ablation and the treatment of endometriosis and pelvic adhesions. Mr Steer often performs 3D scanning to check the uterus to look for blocked fallopian tubes and treatment for low sperm count. He has over 18 years of experience in in vitro fertilisation and intracytoplasmic sperm injection.
Mr Steer trains medical students in minimal access surgery at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Specialising in laparoscopic gynaecological techniques (keyhole surgery), Mr Steer is one of the very few gynaecologists in Europe to have been awarded the membership of the American Society of Reproductive Surgery. He is recognised as a trainer in gynaecological ultrasound for both the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the University of London.
Mr Christopher Steer studied at Birmingham University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He undertook postgraduate research training in gynaecological ultrasound & infertility at King's College London before completing his specialty clinical training at St George's and the Royal Free Hospital in London.
Using a holistic approach, Mr Steer treats all aspects of infertility, whether medical, environmental or emotional. He offers total care through both fertility treatment and subsequent antenatal care and the delivery of the babies, whether either an NHS or private practice setting.
Mr Steer has written in over 25 publications and ten book chapters in the medical press related to this field of medicine. Mr Steer trained with Professor R Edwards, the pioneer of IVF. He has over 18 years of experience in IVF and ICSI. In 2013 Mr Christopher Steer was included in the Tatler Doctors Guide as one of the best gynaecologists in the UK.
