Professional statement
Mr David Gateley is a highly respected plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in London, who specialises in facial aesthetics, breast surgery, and abdominal wall reconstruction, alongside liposuction, non-surgical facelifts and hand surgery. He privately practises at New Victoria Hospital and has 32 years of NHS experience.
Mr Gateley’s subspecialties include the treatment of cysts, lipomas, skin lesions and skin cancer, including ongoing care for patients affected by skin cancer.
After earning his MB BS degree from the University of London in 1984, Mr Gateley completed his FRCS and FRCS (Plast) qualifications at the Royal College of Surgeons. His surgical training was extensive, spanning general surgery, orthopaedics, and neurosurgery, before he specialised in plastic surgery. His pursuit of excellence led him to a Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship in the United States, culminating in his UK certification of higher surgical training in plastic surgery in 1996.
Mr Gateley’s career includes significant roles at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton and Guy’s and St. Thomas’s Hospitals. He was also a consultant plastic surgeon at St George’s Hospital in South London, where he played a pivotal role in training the next generation of plastic surgeons. Although he retired from the NHS in 2016 after 32 years of dedicated service, Mr Gateley continues to contribute to the field through teaching and humanitarian work, including surgical missions to Nepal.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Gateley is the founder of Nakedhealth, a non-surgical medical spa in Wimbledon. This facility enables him to offer his New Victoria Hospital patients a holistic approach to cosmetic treatments, including face lifting, eyelid surgery, cosmetic breast surgery, liposuction and abdominal surgery.
