Dr Esmoreit Sleyster is a leading child psychologist based in Sussex. She specialises in treating attachment and relationship difficulties in children, as well as anxiety, anger, and self-esteem issues. She is fully trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) for children suffering from traumatic experiences. She has practised both privately and in the NHS for over 30 years, and in that time has worked with infants, children and young people experiencing a range of emotional, behavioural, social and mental health difficulties.
Dr Sleyster holds a Clinical Ph.D in Child and Family Psychology and is a chartered psychologist. In addition to being registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), she is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is registered with the Association of Child Psychologists in Private Practice (AChiPPP). She undertakes regular professional training, as is required to belong to the majority of these bodies.
Dr Sleyster has held various senior clinical and leadership positions during her long career in the NHS and has been involved in a number of training projects. She has also been an independent Court Expert Witness, performing duties such as psychological assessments of children and parenting assessments.
