Professor Harminder Dua is a leading ophthalmologist who has made huge contributions to the specialty. He is based in Nottingham at BMI The Park Hospital and the Queens Medical Centre, University Hospital, Nottingham. Here he sees patients for many eye problems, however, he specialises in cornea, ocular surface, cataract, refractive and lens surgery.

With more than 30 years of experience, Professor Dua is one of the United Kingdom's most notable ophthalmologists. In 2019 he was appointed as a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his services to eye healthcare, health education and Ophthalmology, in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

Professor Dua's discovery of the pre-Descemet's layer (Dua’s layer) in the anatomy of the cornea has improved corneal surgery and led to innovations in corneal procedures and shed new light on our understanding of corneal diseases. This is just one example of the massive influence Professor Dua has had in his field. He has been cited over seventeen thousand times and has more than 355 scientific publications to his name.
