Professor Kyriakos Lobotesis is a renowned diagnostic and interventional consultant neuroradiologist, currently serving as the head of specialty (HoS) for interventional neuroradiology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
He began his role as a Consultant at this institution in 2011. He completed his general Radiology training and Focused Individualised Training (FIT) in Neuroradiology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge before pursuing the specialized Boston Scientific Neurointerventional Fellowship in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. He has also worked in France, where he focused on endovascular treatments for brain and spine conditions.
His current practice centers on managing complex intracranial aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations, along with providing care for ischaemic strokes. He participates in Gamma Knife therapy and radiosurgery for various brain and spine disorders, and performs a wide array of spinal interventions, including perineural, facet, epidural, intradural, and other vertebral procedures. In addition to his clinical duties, he holds a significant research and academic position as a Professor of Practice at Imperial College London.
His main interests include the development and clinical implementation of innovative medical technologies, therapies, and devices. He leads several research trials and maintains extensive collaborative relationships both nationally and internationally. To date, he has published numerous peer-reviewed papers and was honored with the Du Boulay Visiting Professorship from the British Society of Neuroradiologists in 2017.
