Dr Lida Panagiotopoulou is a highly-qualified and bi-lingual consultant psychiatrist who provides e-consultation psychiatric services, specialising in adult ADHD, depression and anxiety alongside bipolar affective disorder, OCD, PTSD and stress. Alongside her remote consultancy work, she works as a consultant psychiatrist for the East London NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Panagiotopoulou believes in working together with individuals at all levels. This includes every single interaction with the individual and she also ensures that the patients are encouraged to provide feedback. She uses a biological-psychological-social approach to fully understand an individual's presentation and how different aspects of their lives could be impacting on their mental health. Dr Panagiotopoulou takes time to understand people's unique circumstances in order to formulate personalised formulations of the individual's difficulties and management plans.
Dr Panagiotopoulou qualified as a medical doctor at the medical school of Athens (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece), in 2006. She started her post-graduate psychiatric training in London in 2012. She was awarded full membership of the RCPsych (MRCPsych) in 2015 and he was awarded a CCT in general adult psychiatry with endorsement in liaison psychiatry in 2019.
Prior to her psychiatric training in London, she trained for three years (full time) in paediatrics in the UK and she also worked as a doctor in Greece for about a year. Dr Panagiotopoulou speaks English, as well as Greek.
Her work as a NHS liaison consultant psychiatrist at Newham University Hospital gave her the experience that has led to Dr Panagiotopoulou also specialising in medically unexplained symptoms, functional neurological disorders and mental health difficulties associated with physical health problems. She has also has expertise in addiction psychiatry including alcohol or/and drug misuse. She also has expertise in autism spectrum disorders as she has worked at the NHS City and Hackney autism service.
Dr Panagiotopoulou has been actively involved in various professional organisations at a national level. She is currently the vice chair of the Royal College of Psychiatry's (RCPsych) liaison psychiatry curriculum working group. She is also a member of the RCPsych liaison psychiatry executive committee and RCPsych co-production steering group.
