Dr Nina Salooja is one of London's leading haematologists. She is an NHS consultant at Imperial NHS trust based at the Hammersmith site and is also an adjunct Associate Professor/Reader to the faculty of medicine, Imperial College. She is a specialist in general haematology conditions including diagnosis and management of anaemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, thrombocytosis, iron overload (including haemochromatosis) and iron deficiency. She is also an expert in thrombosis and haemostasis (blood clots and bleeding disorders), in particular deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. She has an additional specialist interest in the long term complications of stem cell transplantation.

Dr Salooja graduated from Oxford University in 1983 and completed her clinical training from St Thomas's Hospital in 1986. Subsequently she held research fellowships with the Leukemia Research Fund (LRF) and also the Medical Research council (MRC). She is a fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists.

Dr Salooja has held multiple leadership roles locally, regionally and internationally. She has published more than one hundred peer-reviewed articles, chapters and printed abstracts and her work is widely cited. She has contributed significantly to collaborative International guideline development with colleagues in Europe and the USA.

Dr Salooja is passionate about education. She is a fellow of the higher education academy and has a Masters degree in Education. She has won prizes for her teaching and held multiple leadership roles in education both at a University level and within NHS England.
