Mr Rupert Wharton is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at New Victoria Hospital. He is highly specialised in the management of sports injuries and degenerative conditions affecting the hand and wrist, always prioritising non-operative treatments in close collaboration with hand therapy colleagues before considering surgical interventions.
Mr Wharton completed his surgical training on the North West Thames Rotation, where he excelled by ranking first in the national selection for trauma and orthopaedics. He further honed his expertise in hand, wrist, and elbow surgery through fellowships at prestigious institutions such as the Wrightington Upper Limb Unit, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and the Pulvertaft Hand Centre.
His commitment to advancing his field is evident from his receipt of the Soli Lam Travelling Fellowship, which allowed him to study at leading European centres like the Institut Kaplan in Barcelona and Institut de la Main in Paris.
