It includes explanations about diabetes, blood sugar and insulin, advice on how to inject insulin, nutritional advice, and information about local support groups and courses. Diabetes is a long-term condition where there is too much sugar in the blood because the body cannot produce insulin (a hormone which regulates blood sugar). In the UK, around 2.0 million people are affected and there are thought to be around 890,000 people with undiagnosed diabetes. This educational video was produced by Dr Sheharyar Qureshi, Specialist Registrar in Diabetes and Endocrinology, in collaboration with Dr Rashmi Kaushal, Consultant Diabetologist, and Parminder Rihal, Diabetes Specialist Nurse.
