Mr Stephen Metcalfe is a highly experienced consultant spinal neurosurgeon at The Harborne Hospital.
Mr Metcalfe’s practice covers a wide spectrum of spinal neurosurgery, focusing on conditions such as degenerative spinal disorders, trauma, and tumours, particularly intramedullary and intradural tumours. However, his practice does not include complex spinal deformities.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2001, after which he underwent rigorous neurosurgical training in Newcastle and Middlesbrough. To further refine his skills, he completed a prestigious spinal fellowship in Adelaide, Australia.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Mr Metcalfe is deeply committed to medical education and currently serves as the Royal College of Surgeons of England surgical tutor at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
