"Lip fillers" is currently one of the most-Googled beauty search terms, which may be thanks to the likes of celebs such as Charlotte Crosby sporting fuller-looking lips recently. Meanwhile, Kylie Jenner’s lips have been no stranger in the spotlight thanks to her previous use of lip fillers and with the perfect pout increasingly popular she even released her own lipstick line. But make-up aside, and for those of us who don’t naturally have the plumpest of lips, what can we do to stay on trend or just feel better about our appearance?

We talk to the expert in lip enhancement Dr Nikola Milojevic, who has performed the non-surgical technique thousands of times. Here he explains the reasons why more and more women are opting for the procedure at his practice (The Milo Clinic in London) that leaves them with the perfect pout: fuller and natural-looking lips

What’s the difference between lip injections and dermal fillers?

These aesthetic procedures are very much the same thing. However, dermal fillers can be used to plump other features such as the cheeks, whilst lip injections are specifically used on the mouth. Lip augmentation can be referred to by the following names:

Overall, a lip augmentation helps women who have a gummy smile or thin lips. The procedure is non-surgical and uses injectables.

What are the reasons to have lip fillers?

As we age our lips become thinner because they lose fat and collagen. This causes them to droop down and leave women with what we call the “sad clown lips”. Other reasons include smoker’s lines (or lipstick bleeding) where stubborn wrinkles that are caused by ageing, genetics and smoking appear around the mouth. Some women are self-conscious of the thin lips that they have always had and just want them to become fuller. Bringing photos of the lips that you desire is always welcomed at the clinic as we work hard at fulfilling our patients’ wishes.

Why should we visit Dr Milojevic?

Lip enhancement is one of the most difficult procedures in aesthetic medicine but Dr Milojevic has performed thousands of non-surgical lip augmentation procedures. He has developed the most effective techniques for amazing and natural lips.

Is having lip fillers a painful procedure?

Many patients tell us that they found lip procedures very painful in the past but at the Milo clinic we only use lip fillers that have local anaesthetic already incorporated into them. These include Restylane lidocaine or Volbella, which makes it a painless experience. In addition, Dr Milojevic is a specialist famed for his gentle hands and by using his own modern lip enhancement techniques, a painless and pleasurable experience is guaranteed.

What is the most popular style of lips?

“Heart lips” is the newest technique with which we can shape your lips so that they will look like the most famous ones in the world: the lips of Angelina Jolie.

What do you think the perfect lips should look like?

The lip enhancement procedure is a form of fine art, and the Milo clinic use their great experience and artistic feeling to give you natural tailor-made lips. The modern lip should be subtle, natural and sensual.
