Haematology studies diseases of the blood, and the organs which help create it, in order to prevent, diagnose and treat them. At the same time, it is concerned with the components which form blood, such red blood cells, white blood cells, erythrocytes, platelets, leukocytes, among others, and its characteristics such as coagulation. This speciality is also concerned with the normal state of the blood and its components.
