What are the Top Doctors Awards?

• Top Doctors is a global company dedicated to offering patients access to the very best in healthcare, and recognising medical excellence around the world. Top Doctors has been connecting patients with the highest-level specialists for over 25 years and is now operative across three continents.
• The Top Doctors Awards were launched over a decade ago in the US, to highlight the most recommended medical specialists as nominated by healthcare professionals. Specialists and doctors alike nominate those that they would entrust either their own or one of their loved ones’ healthcare to.
• The Awards seek to highlight the high level of UK medicine, as the doctors and medical teams are brought forward and nominated due to their excellent medical training and clinical skills, along with the time, care, and attention they give to each patient taken into consideration.
• The Top Doctors Awards serve to recognise medical excellence, acknowledging the best of the best in healthcare as recommended by their peers. This process helps patients to find the best specialist for their needs.

Nomination Process

• Top Doctors carries out regular surveys across all the countries it is currently operative in, with an external group of 60.000 specialists to ask for recommendations and votes for top-rate doctors around the world, along with surveying over 500 specialists on the UK Top Doctors platform. These surveys are carried out via email and by face-to-face interviews with Top Doctor members.
• All doctors and specialists in the United Kingdom, whether they are Top Doctors members or not, can nominate any specialist they deem to be top-rate through the nomination platform in the Nominate doctors section.
• Those who have received the most nominations throughout the year will be awarded the Doctor of the Year Award – Top Doctors Awards®.
• Partaking is completely free, both for those who nominate, and for specialists who are nominated as candidates.

Award criteria and nomination Process

• A nominated doctor or medical team must be a professional that a doctor would go to or recommend their friends and family to visit, not only because of their clinical skills and expert training, but also for the time, attention, and care given to each patient.
• All chartered doctors can reference and vote for any doctor or speciality that meets the above requirements, whether they are members of Top Doctors or not.
• The nominated doctors and teams must pass the Top Doctors assessment. Our external auditing group, Adecco Medical Science, verifies that the nominees are high-level professionals according to 10 different sets of criteria. Our medical committee – Top Doctors Clinical Leaders - ensure that the level of excellence is maintained throughout the process. In the event of any doubt, the company reserves the right to reject a nominated doctor if they do not pass this process.
• All finalists for the Top Doctors Awards must pass the auditing process.
• Any doctor who passes this process can win. It is not a requirement for them to be an active Top Doctors member to win – the award does not depend on professionals being users of the Top Doctors service.
• A doctor may not nominate themselves. For validation, a GDC or GMC number is required, along with a valid email address.
• Only doctors, dentists, and medical specialists can nominate.
• Nominations arising from the incorrect use of the nomination process are not accepted, neither is falsified information relating to the identification of the doctor.

Candidate selection process

• Top Doctors will publish a list with the 25 winning specialists for the Top Doctors Awards, reflecting those who have received the most nominations throughout the year.
• The winner will receive a commemorative certificate in recognition.

Eligibility Period

• Nominations are open throughout the year in the Nominate doctors section.
• Opening nomination date: 1st of January 2024
• Specialist nomination deadline: 31st of December 2024.
• Winners will be announced three months after the closing date.

Dissemination and confidentiality

• Top Doctors does not publish email addresses nor does it pass them on to third parties.
• Top Doctors does not publish the names of doctors who have nominated other medical professionals.
• Top Doctors shall treat all information with strict confidentiality.
• The nominated doctors and medical teams will be eligible to become members of the Top Doctors medical team and be active members on www.topdoctors.co.uk, appear in the Top Doctors Magazine, and in other online and offline publications.
