Mr Chrysostomos Dimitriou is an award-winning, substantive consultant ophthalmic surgeon, specialising in modern cataract surgery and glaucoma therapy, as well as all general eye conditions. He regularly performs small-incision phacoemulsification and femto-laser assisted cataract surgery (>33-40 operations per week) both routine and advanced in near-sighted and short-sighted eyes with small pupils, angle closure, narrow chambers, and co-existing glaucoma.

Mr Dimitriou is the lead clinician for cataract and glaucoma at the OAKS Hospital in Colchester, as well as East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) for Private Patients. He has performed in excess of 12,000 cataract operations and 3,000 MiGS procedures (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery) and is currently recognised as the eye surgeon with the highest number of successful MiGS procedures in the whole of East Anglia to include SLT laser, micro-pulse laser, XEN45, iStent G2 w inject, KDB, PRESERFLO, HYDRUS, OMNI, iTRACK Advance, TrabEx+, MINIject, MiMS, and more recently excimer laser trabeculostomy (ELiOS), one of the first surgeons in the country to adopt those new technologies.

Mr Dimitriou regularly offers combined cataract and glaucoma procedures with micro-stents, micro-catheters and lasers to relieve the burden of glaucoma eye-drops. He performed the first ever XEN45 glaucoma sub-conjunctival micro-stent implantation at Essex County Hospital (15.6.2016@ECH), Baerveldt glaucoma tube implantation (19.4.2017@ECH), CyPass glaucoma supraciliary micro-stent implantation (22.11.2017@ECH) and i-Stent G2 glaucoma trans-trabecular micro-stent implantation (6.12.2017@ECH).

Mr Dimitriou completed comprehensive training at The Royal United Hospital in Bath, The Prince Charles Eye Unit in Windsor and The Royal Surrey County Hospital (RSCH) in Guildford (2007-2012). He received further sub-specialty training at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London (2012-2015). He has also completed a full-year fellowship in MIGS at RSCH (2016-2017).

Mr Dimitriou serves as principal investigator for major glaucoma research studies, including the National East Anglian POEM Study, International XEN45 in Angle Closure Multi-Centre Study, Pan-European MASTERS CyPass Study, TRITON, ARTEMIS, ATHENA Bimatoprost slow-release implant trials and more recently STAR VI and STAR LiFE trials for MINIject supraciliary glaucoma implants.

Mr Dimitriou has featured twice on the Daily Mail for his contributions to modern cataract and glaucoma surgery and is lecturing around the world on a regular basis, whilst publishing his research and audit results in peer reviewed journals. Mr Dimitriou, senior full-time consultant ophthalmologist, also serves as the surgical tutor and MiGS simulation lead for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in Colchester and ESNEFT. He has been awarded a Level 2 Clinical Excellence Award (2019) in acknowledgment of his efforts to bring those new treatment modalities to everyday clinical practice for the benefit of his cataract and glaucoma patients. Dr Guy Haywood is a highly-experienced consultant cardiologist based in Plymouth who manages all types of heart disease. His areas of expertise include atrial fibrillation, cardiac ablation, arrhythmia, chest pain, palpitations and shortness of breath.

He has trained extensively in the investigation and treatment of heart disorders at various hospitals both in the UK and abroad including St George's Hospital, London and Stanford University Hospital Medical School, California.

After being appointed as a consultant at Derriford Hospital Plymouth in 1996, he helped set up the South West Cardiothoracic Centre (SWCC) - the cardiac surgery centre for Devon and Cornwall. He then visited centres in France, Germany, Italy and the USA to gain more experience and expand the range of treatments and technologies he can offer and also to enable the SWCC to establish new complex procedures. These include electro-anatomical mapping for the treatment of heart rhythm problems and to introduce the first atrial fibrillation ablation program in Devon and Cornwall.

In addition to his consultancy work, Dr Haywood is an executive council member of Arrhythmia Alliance UK and is a founder member of the UK EP Multicentre Trials Group. He also served on the Heart Rhythm UK Council, the clinical practice committee at the British Cardiac Society and was a member of the Department of Health's Expert Group on Cardiac Arrhythmias. At present, he is an advisory consultant to several medical device companies helping to develop the next range of therapies for heart diseases and his inventions in the field of catheter ablation have resulted in novel catheters now on the market or in current development. He regularly lectures and presents at national and international meetings in the field of Cardiac Electrophysiology.

From 1/1/2021 my private medical practice company, At Heart Ltd, has been supporting reforestation charity work. £10 from each private consultation or heart procedure fee has gone to support tree planting in Asia and Africa and this has resulted in over 30,000 trees being planted so far. Professor Owen Epstein is a renowned and pioneering professor of gastroenterology, based at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London. He has a special interest in the innovation of healthcare and the technologies used to ease the patient journey. These include whole bowel wireless capsule (pill) endoscopy and hydrogen or 13C breath testing variously for lactose intolerance, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, Helicobacter pylori, stomach pump function and colon cancer screening using minimally invasive colon capsule endoscopy. He also has considerable experience in the physiological assessment of the vagus nerve and stress and, in particular, its relationship to abnormal gut feelings. Professor Epstein has had a hugely successful career and is regarded as one of the leaders in minimally-invasive techniques and a gentler patient journey.

Professor Epstein is widely published with more than 100 reviewed publications to his name. He is the senior author of the best-selling textbook Clinical Examination and the originator of the 'The Map  of Medicine', which is a key online resource used by healthcare professionals. He founded the Royal Free Screen Based Simulation Centre, where medical and surgical gastroenterologists use virtual reality to acquire mastery of endoscopy and laparoscopic surgery prior to engaging in live procedures. More recently, Professor Epstein has introduced new and minimally-invasive assessment tools and founded a new 'Institute for Minimally Invasive Gastroenterology (IMIGe)' at the Royal Free. He is director of the IMIGe Academy for Capsule Endoscopy which teaches aspiring capsule practitioners. Professor Epstein is award-winning and, over the years, has received research grants amounting to more than £1 million. He has contributed hugely to new medical technologies that change the patient's journey, and continues to do so.

Professor Epstein works out of the Royal Free PPU where he currently runs one of the UK’s leading PP colon capsule units. Professor Epstein is currently the lead clinician on the advisory panel of the new NHS England Colon capsule endoscopy colon cancer screening pilot (50000 patients)

He has also developed the capsule endoscopy curriculum(small and large intestine)  for teaching novice NHS England gastroenterologists how to read and report capsule endoscopy. He has mentored over 400 UK gastroenterologist as well as aspiring capsule readers in Europe, Hong Kong, West Africa and the Amercias.s.Professor Epstein is a regular invited speaker to  major international conferences on capsule endoscopy.

Over the past few years, Professor Epstein and his team have developed a unique investigation unit to monitor vagus nerve function in patients with IBS, functional dyspepsia and other  "functional disorders". This is based on a wearable device that continuously measures heart rate variability over 3 days to establish whether or not the there is a "software" disorder underlying unexplained or gastroenterology drug unresponsive disorders. He has considerable experience of offering  non invasive vagus nerve stimulation to appropriate patients with abnormal vagus nerve function (using gammaCore).
