Osteotomy around the knee is a surgical realignment procedure that can be considered for patients suffering from painful arthritis. Outcomes from osteotomy can often be better than joint replacement surgery, and the procedure has the added advantage of maintaining the existing joint. It may also be appropriate for patients deemed ‘too young’ for joint replacement.
