Mr Antonio Manzelli is an extensively trained and highly skilled consultant general surgeon in Exeter with more than 15 years of professional expertise. His main surgical interests consist of upper GI (gastrointestinal) surgery and HPB (hepato-pancreatico-biliary) surgery.
He has gained experience in all common open and advanced laparoscopic procedures as well as vascular surgical procedures. He also performs upper GI (gastrointestinal) endoscopy and surgery for gallstones, bile ducts, hernias, liver conditions and splenic cysts, pancreatic pseudocysts, stomach GISTs (gastrointestinal stromal tumours), spleen issues and conditions of the small bowel.
Mr Manzelli qualified with a PhD in Robotics at Tor Vergata University of Rome, a PhD in HPB at the University of Verona and an MSc in Day Surgery at the University of Venice. Later in his training, he specialized in the US with a fellowship in trauma at UPMC in Pittsburgh and a fellowship in abdominal organ transplantation at UIC in Chicago.
He worked as a consultant surgeon at Tor Vergata University of Rome Hospital before moving to the UK for a Fellowship in HPB at UOH in Oxford. In 2011, Mr Manzelli was appointed as a consultant hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeon at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust in 2011.
