Information of interest about aesthetic medicine specialists

What does an aesthetic doctor do?

An aesthetic doctor focuses on improving, maintaining and restoring facial and body aesthetics through non-surgical or minimally invasive treatments. Many procedures are carried out using topical or local anaesthesia and are performed on an outpatient basis.

Why are you referred to an aesthetic doctor?

In most cases, there is no medical referral. Patients usually book an appointment themselves to improve aesthetic concerns about their appearance that they feel self-conscious about or wish to address proactively.

When should you see an aesthetic doctor?

You may wish to visit an aesthetic doctor when you want to prevent or improve visible signs such as ageing, skin changes or localised fat deposits. It may also be helpful after hormonal changes, weight fluctuations or as part of the natural ageing process.

Aesthetic medicine is becoming increasingly common: around 38 million procedures are performed worldwide every year, most of them non-surgical treatments, according to ISAPS. You may wish to seek advice if you are concerned about an aesthetic change that does not improve over time, affects how you feel about yourself, or if you would like to explore suitable treatment options with a doctor.

Why choose an aesthetic doctor?

Because they assess each case individually and recommend the most appropriate treatment according to the objective: prevention, rejuvenation or aesthetic improvement of a specific area.
