Mr Benjamin Tan is a consultant upper gastrointestinal surgeon at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, where he has been a key member of the surgical team since January 2017.
With a specialist focus on complex oesophagogastric conditions, Mr Tan’s expertise spans the treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, hiatal hernias, and oesophageal and gastric cancers. He practises privately at The Harborne Hospital.
He completed his medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Glasgow in 2003 and was awarded an MD from the University of Edinburgh in 2012, having conducted research on cancer cachexia, leading to several published papers.
