Dr Carlos Corredor is a consultant in cardiothoracic critical care and anaesthesia at Barts Heart Centre in London, where he has served since 2017. He also currently practises at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital.
He graduated from Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia, in 2000, before moving to London to pursue dual training in anaesthesia and intensive care at major tertiary centres. After completing his training in the U.K., Dr Corredor undertook fellowships in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and critical care, as well as anaesthesia for major transplant surgeries, at Toronto General Hospital in Ontario, Canada. During this time, he achieved certification in advanced perioperative echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography in the United States.
Dr Corredor has a particular interest in the perioperative care of patients undergoing major aortovascular surgery. His expertise extends to neurological protection and monitoring, haemostasis and blood conservation, as well as the application of perioperative point-of-care ultrasound. Currently, he leads the aortovascular critical care unit at Barts Heart Centre, providing specialized care for complex surgical patients.
