Mr Connan Tam is an experienced orthoptist and optometrist practising in his clinic in central London. He is specialised in paediatric eye care, binocular vision, specialist contact lenses and is also an expert in treating dry eyes.
With dual qualifications in both optometry and orthoptics, Mr Tam is able to provide care for numerous eye issues. This has given him invaluable experience throughout his career. After first qualifying in orthoptics from the University of Liverpool in 2004, Mr Tam worked across several top hospitals, including the world-known Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, before completing his second degree in optometry in 2009. During this qualification, he was awarded the Greatest Aptitude with Children prize from City, University of London.
Having worked at several paediatric clinics alongside renowned paediatric ophthalmologists, Mr Tam is highly experienced in the examination of children to detect lazy eyes, squints, and binocular vision problems. His training and experience mean that he can provide encompassing and all-round eye care for infants and children.
His contact lens specialism was further developed during his time at St Thomas' Hospital. He worked alongside the corneal clinics to provide complex contact lens fitting to patients with corneal irregularities due to keratoconus, trauma, and post-refractive surgery.
One of Mr Tam's biggest interests and specialities is dry eye syndrome, which stems from his own personal experience of having this condition. He is very passionate about improving the treatment options available for dry eye and is able to provide a level of care to his patients that is framed with a real understanding of what it is like to live with dry eyes.
