Mr Gavin McCoubrey is a leading consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in Southampton and Winchester. Mr McCoubrey's specialist interests include elective and trauma hand surgery, limb reconstruction, ear correction and microsurgery. Mr McCoubrey is also highly experienced in skin cancer surgery, scar revision, breast surgery, and cosmetic surgery (tummy tuck, abdominoplasty).
Mr McCoubrey was appointed as a substantive NHS plastic surgeon at the Salisbury Foundation Trust. He works at The University Hospital Southampton's major trauma centre. Mr McCoubrey dedicates much of his time at the centre focusing on limb reconstruction, which includes immediate and delayed lower limb reconstruction and complex amputations.
Mr McCoubrey began his training at The University of St Andrews and gained a BSc in medical science from Manchester University in 2000. He also underwent specialist training in plastic surgery at the Oxford Deanery, where he was awarded his CCT in 2014. During Mr Gavin McCoubrey's final year of training, he spent a year working on a cosmetic and microsurgical fellowship in Melbourne, Australia. This covered all aspects of plastic surgical reconstruction.
