Mr Javad Moayedi

Mr Javad Moayedi is the lead consultant and NHS director for Optegra Eye Healthcare in central London, with more than 23 years of experience as a consultant ophthalmic surgeon. He specialises in cataract surgery and vision correction, lens implant surgery, oculoplastic surgery, eyelid surgery, blepharoplasty, and YAG capsulotomy. He practises at Optegra London Eye Hospital and Optegra North London Eye Hospital.

Mr Moayedi is a highly experienced cataract surgeon, having performed over 36,000 cataract and lens implant procedures. He has developed expertise in small incision cataract surgery and enjoys a very high success rate, with more than 99 per cent of patients recommending him for their eye surgery. His extensive experience covers complex cataract surgery, the use of premium and multifocal lens implants, and advanced vision correction for patients with high short-sightedness, long-sightedness, or astigmatism. He is also skilled in vision correction following previous laser eye surgery (PRK or LASIK) and implantable contact lens procedures.

His subspecialist interests include the removal of eyelid lumps and bumps, correction of eyelid malformations, and blepharoplasty to address redundant skin around the eyes. He also has expertise in managing watery eyes and glaucoma, ensuring patients receive comprehensive and tailored ophthalmic care.

Mr Moayedi completed his medical degree (BMBS) at the University of Linköping in Sweden in 2002, followed by a Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSci) at Uppsala University, Sweden, in 1995. He obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (MRCOphth) in 2006 and went on to train further in cataract, vision correction and eyelid surgery in Sweden and Northern Ireland.

He holds memberships in several prestigious professional bodies, including the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), the European Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), the British Society for Refractive Surgery (BSRS), and the UK and Northern Ireland Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS).

Alongside his clinical and surgical practice, Mr Moayedi is committed to education and innovation in ophthalmology. He has delivered lectures on the latest cataract surgery techniques and published academic work in this field.
