Dr Jitka Vanderpol is a distinguished consultant neurologist based in Penrith at Lake District Neurology. She specialises in neurology, with a particular focus on headache and migraine management, offering expert diagnosis and personalised treatment for a wide range of neurological conditions. Dr Vanderpol is recognised nationally as a headache expert and is dedicated to providing comprehensive care that goes beyond conventional approaches.
With a career spanning over 15 years in the United Kingdom, Dr Vanderpol has combined clinical practice with research and innovation. She established the Cumbria Headache Service in 2012 and, as Clinical Director for Neuroscience Development in Cumbria, helped develop the ‘Close to Home’ neurology service. Her work in novel headache research and innovative healthcare solutions has been recognised with six Clinical Excellence Awards and a first-place award for Innovative Technology or Device at the Bright Ideas in Health Awards in 2015.
Dr Vanderpol is also committed to education and patient empowerment. She serves as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire and is a faculty member and speaker at the Headache Academy in the Royal College of Physicians, London, and the UK Neurology Academy. She is the former President of the Anglo Dutch Migraine Association and the author of Helping You Successfully Manage Your Headache and Migraine: A Patient’s Guide, providing practical guidance for managing headaches at home.
