Dr Kalaivani Lingam is an esteemed urogynaecologist with over 15 years of experience at consultant level.
Practising across Derby and Burton-on-Trent, Dr Lingam's specialist interest is in the treatment of urogynaecological conditions such as urinary incontinence, prolapse, and pelvic pain due to painful bladder syndrome or endometriosis. However, she also sees patients with general gynaecological problems such as heavy or irregular periods, endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, and recurrent miscarriage. She routinely performs procedures such as laparoscopic surgery or hysterectomy for endometriosis and fibroids, endometrial ablation for heavy periods, and pelvic floor repair, and was involved in getting pessaries for prolapses into the UK on the NHS.
Dr Lingam originally qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1987 then trained in the West of Scotland in obstetrics and gynaecology. After completing fellowship exams for the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Dr Lingam was appointed as consultant at Rotherham General Hospital.
In 2004 Dr Lingam took up her present role as consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Queen's Hospital Burton, where she has been instrumental in developing an integrated urogynaecology service. In 2011, the service became only the fifth in the country to be awarded National Accreditation in Urogynaecology status.
