
Professional background
Dr Marawan El Farargy is a consultant interventional radiologist based at Lister Hospital in Hertfordshire, and specialises in treating fibroids, adenomyosis, and arterial diseases (peripheral and leg), utilising approaches such as varicocele embolisation, dialysis access, and vascular access (such as port-a-cath or PICC line).
Dr El Farargy qualified from the Suez Canal University in 2014 before moving to the UK to undergo training, where he gained experience in emergency, respiratory, occupational medicine and general surgery. He began to specialises in radiology in Glasgow in 2018, and in 2021 he was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists. He undertook a fellowship in 2025 with the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe (CIRSE) in Lisbon Portugal as a consultant, and since September 2025 has been a consultant in Hertfordshire.
Dr El Farargy partakes in medical research, having co-authored various publications and presented at both national and international conferences. He has been honoured with several awards from the British Society of Interventional Radiology.
