Mr Mohamed Mehasseb is a highly respected consultant gynaecologist and gynaecological oncology surgeon based in Liverpool. He has vast expertise in the diagnosis, investigation, and management of a wide variety of gynaecological conditions including but not limited to fibroids, heavy periods, endometriosis, issues of the vulva, and menopause. He performs complex major gynaecological procedures such as hysterectomy, myomectomy, and gynaecological cancer surgery.
 
Mr Mehasseb is a specialist in gynaecological cancer screening, diagnosis and surgical treatment including ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, cervical cancer and vulval cancer.

Mr Mehasseb obtained his medical degree from the University of Cairo in 1997 and subsequently completed a Master of Science (MSc) in 2001 and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 2005. He was admitted to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) as a member in 2004.
 
Mr Mehasseb pursued specialist training in Newcastle upon Tyne and Leicester and advanced laparoscopic training in France. He was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Leicester in 2011.
 
Following completion of a fellowship in gynaecological oncology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, Mr Mehasseb was appointed as a consultant gynaecological surgeon and oncologist at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary in 2012, where he served until 2020. He subsequently transferred to Liverpool Women’s Hospital, where he currently holds the same position.
 
Mr Mehasseb has received recognition for his exceptional patient care, skills, and contributions to teaching and service development, including two clinical excellence awards.
 
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Mehasseb has authored peer-reviewed research articles, book chapters, and reviews on gynaecology and women’s health. He has presented at national and international conferences and actively participates in associations related to gynaecological oncology. Notably, he has served as a member of the Guidelines Committee of the RCOG, chaired the NICE Guideline Committee on Heavy Menstrual Bleeding, and served as associate editor of The Obstetrician & Gynaecologist Journal. Mr Mehasseb also has experience in organising and leading courses for medical students. Furthermore, he provides medico-legal reports as a certified expert witness.
