Mr Nicos Kessaris is a leading adult and paediatric transplant surgeon based in London who specialises in renal transplants, living donor nephrectomies and vascular access surgery alongside parathyroidectomy for renal failure, peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion and paediatric transplant surgery and vascular access. He privately practises at London Bridge Hospital and Guy's and St Thomas' Private Healthcare, as well as International and Private Care at Great Ormond Street Hospital. His NHS base is Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Kessaris, who is qualified with an MBBS from St George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London, is highly experienced and respected in his field. He undertook his specialist registrar training in general surgery and transplantation in London. He spent his last two years of training at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and Hammersmith Hospital.
Mr Kessaris successfully established the ABO and HLA Incompatible Transplant programmes when he was the Director of Transplantation at St George's Hospital Renal Transplant Unit between 2009-2012. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecture at King's College London. He co-created the Paediatric Transplantation Module on ESOT Transplant Live, an E-learning platform. He teaches on the Live Donor Nephrectomy (LiDo) course that is held in Rotterdam every year, and is an organising committee member of the Paediatric Transplant Symposium. He is also a UEMS examiner in Transplant Surgery since 2014.
