Hypertension (high blood pressure)
This sub-speciality studies, diagnoses and treats kidney diseases and their relationship with the rest of the body in children and adolescents. Child nephrology addresses all the disorders which affect the kidneys and urinary tracts, such as kidney failure, arterial hypertension, urinary tract infections, urinary incontinence, hematuria, acute or chronic renal failure and autoimmune diseases related to nephrology, such as systemic lupus erythematosus or vasculitis, among others. Paediatric nephrologists are also responsible for evaluating and treating growth and development problems, specifically those related to chronic renal diseases.
