
Mr Sam Parker

Mr Sam Parker is a consultant surgeon specialising in complex abdominal wall and colorectal surgery. He began his academic journey studying chemistry at Oxford University before pursuing a degree in medicine at Cardiff University, graduating in 2010. His surgical training took place in London, where he worked at both University College London Hospital and the Royal London Hospital. In 2023, he was awarded a fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and in 2025, he was appointed as a consultant surgeon at Croydon University Hospital.
Mr Parker has a particular focus on complex abdominal wall reconstruction, including advanced hernia surgery. He has shaped his training around developing extensive expertise in this subspecialty and is now recognised as a leading authority in the field. His additional clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, coloproctology, and colorectal cancer.

He currently serves as the principal investigator of the TROCAR trial, which is evaluating the effectiveness of a novel suture material (DuraMesh) for laparoscopic port-site closure.
