Mr Valerio Di Nicola is a leading general surgeon based in Worthing, England who specialises in minimally invasive surgery, tension free hernia procedures, faecal incontinence and anal canal and colorectal diseases.
Mr Di Nicola graduated in medicine in 1989 and then he worked at the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome. During his PhD in microsurgery and regenerative medicine, he worked as a researcher. He continued to train in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical procedures and colorectal surgery and obtained a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Open Surgery in Colorectal Cancer. He then went on to achieve a Master in coloproctology at La Sapienza of Rome University.
Mr Di Nicola has worked as a consultant of the General Surgery Department at San Marco Hospital in Italy and in general and colorectal surgery at the Israelite Hospital of Rome. He was later appointed the scientific director of the Interbion Foundation for Basic Biomedical Research in Switzerland. He later moved to the UK where he worked at Noble’s Hospital in the Isle of Man within the Department of General Surgery.
In June 2015 he became leader of the Surgical Educational programme, managing the Surgical Teaching and the Mortality & Morbidity meetings. He now works as a general surgeon at the BMI Goring Hall Hospital and at the West Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
