Our recent stakeholder event on 25 January provided an opportunity to share our key achievements, showcase specific examples of our work, and gain an understanding of the challenges in delivering our transformation projects. Here, Professor Hashim Ahmed, Professor of Urology, Imperial College, outlines the RAPID prostate pathway and its benefits to patients in terms of outcomes and improved experience.

Prof. Ahmed explains that the ideal way to work up a patient who is considering focal therapy is to first carry out a multiparametric MRI optimized for prostate cancer detection and diagnosis. This includes T2-weighted imaging, diffusion-weighted imaging, and contrast enhancement studies. Prof. Hashim Ahmed, Chair of Urology at Imperial College London, is an internationally renowned expert in prostate cancer diagnosis, imaging and biopsy. He is also well known for his expertise in minimally invasive therapies, such as HIFU, which he has been using for over 10 years.
RM Partners has produced an information video for healthcare professionals, Cancer Alliances and clinical commissioning groups. This provides an overview of the RAPID (Rapid Access to Prostate Imaging and Diagnosis) pathway to help support them in setting up a similar service in their area.
