The localised treatment of prostate cancer with prostate seed (LDR) brachytherapy

Prostate cancer begins in the prostate gland. Traditional treatment methods for prostate cancer can cause damage to the surrounding tissues, which can result in further urinary problems. Another option is using LDR seed brachytherapy, which treats prostate cancer in a localised manner, protecting nearby tissue. Highly skilled consultant clinical oncologist Dr Albert Edwards, based in Canterbury and Maidstone, explains what LDR brachytherapy is and what to expect from the procedure.
