What’s the recovery period like?
The recovery period for a tummy tuck varies depending on the individual and the extent of the surgery. In general, patients will need to take one to two weeks off work and avoid strenuous activity and exercise for around six weeks.
Do I need to wear a compression garment?
Yes, you will need to wear a snug fitting compression garment for six weeks. This helps to reduce the fluid build-up in the operated site.
Will there be scarring?
Yes. A tummy tuck involves making an incision, which results in some scarring. However, the incision is usually located low on the abdomen and can be hidden by clothing or swimwear. Additionally, there’s an additional incision around the belly button.
How long do the results of a tummy tuck last?
The results of a tummy tuck can be long-lasting, particularly if the patient maintains a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and a balanced diet. However, weight gain or future pregnancies can affect the outcome of the procedure.
