Professional statement
Dr Alastair McCance is a consultant cardiologist practising at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital. He specialises in treating chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, heart failure, hypertension, and arrhythmia. He also performs echocardiogram and electrocardiogram for diagnostic investigations.
Dr McCance qualified in 1980 from Oxford University, and has been a Consultant Cardiologist in Derby since 1993. He did extensive research on the Sympathetic Nervous System in relation to cardiac disease and holds a DM from the University of Oxford. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. He has specialist interests in Interventional Cardiology, Maternal Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease.
He is a member of the British Cardiovascular Society, the Medical Protection Society, and the British Interventional Cardiovascular Society.
