Professional statement
Dr Claudia Wald is a consultant psychiatrist in central London who specialises in old age psychiatry, adult psychiatry, and cognitive impairment, alongside dementia, mood disorders, psychosis, personality disorders, and cognitive analytic therapy. She privately practices at Re:Cognition Health London and the Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Memory Service within the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.
She oversees various services at her trust, including in-patient wards, community mental health teams, and liaison services at major London hospitals. She is also proficient in capacity assessments, medico-legal work, and the application of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Dr Wald established the Westminster Memory Service in 2009 and the Kensington & Chelsea Memory Service in 2011. Both services have received national accreditation for excellence from the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Notably, these teams were jointly awarded the Royal College's Older Adult Team of the Year in 2015. Additionally, the Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Memory Service achieved outstanding distinction as the first memory service in the UK to meet 100 per cent of nationally agreed standards.
Dr Wald gained dual accreditation in adult and older adult psychiatry from the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 1998. She remains a dedicated member of this college and continues to contribute to high-quality mental health care delivery across her clinical roles.
