Mr Colin Holton

Mr Colin Holton is a distinguished consultant orthopaedic surgeon based in Leeds who specialises in hip surgery and paediatric orthopaedics. His areas of expertise include hip replacement, hip arthroscopy, and femoral and pelvic osteotomy. He treats hip dysplasia, Perthes disease, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, femoroacetabular impingement, avascular necrosis and hip osteoarthritis.

Mr Holton consults privately at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital. He also practises at Leeds General Infirmary since 2014. Notably, Mr Holton holds the position of clinical director at Leeds Children’s Hospital.

Mr Holton qualified from University of Leeds in 2012. He then undertook his orthopaedic training in the Yorkshire region, before completing a fellowship under Mr J Conroy, focusing on hip arthroscopy and total hip replacement in Harrogate. Additionally, Mr Holton completed an international fellowship in Denmark with Professor K Søballe, Mr M Lamm, and Mr B Lund, where he acquired proficiency in techniques like minimally invasive PAO (peri-acetabular osteotomy).

In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Holton has an active research portfolio grounded in his MSc in Mechanical Engineering, which explored the use of bone grafts in total hip replacement. He serves as principal investigator for 3 NIHR-approved studies and is also an honorary clinical lecturer at the University of Leeds.
