Daniela Stan is a London-based consultant sonographer with over 25 years’ experience across the NHS and private healthcare sectors. She holds a Medical Doctor degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” in Bucharest, Romania, with a licence to practise in Family Medicine.
Following graduation and the award of her medical licence, Daniela developed a keen interest in diagnostic imaging and was invited to undertake a Diploma in Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound at a leading ultrasound institute in the United States, which she completed in 2003. She subsequently pursued extensive formal ultrasound training and internships at prestigious university hospitals and trauma centres in New York and New Jersey, gaining exposure to a broad range of pathologies and complex clinical scenarios.
Upon completion of her ultrasound diploma, Daniela was appointed to teach diagnostic ultrasound to postgraduate students while concurrently holding clinical positions in university hospitals, including the Robert Wood Johnson Trauma Centre. In this role, she worked closely with vascular surgeons and academic clinicians, providing intraoperative ultrasound support for a wide variety of interventional procedures.
Between 2003 and 2011, Daniela achieved multiple ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certifications, including Obstetrics (2004), Abdomen & Small Parts (2005), Breast (2008), and Vascular (2010). She relocated to the UK in 2011, joining the ultrasound team at Royal Free Hospital NHS Trust, where she performed and reported a comprehensive range of scans encompassing Abdomen, Pelvis, Obstetrics, Small Parts, Breast, Vascular, and Musculoskeletal imaging, in her capacity as an Advanced Practitioner Sonographer.
In 2014, Daniela completed a Master’s degree in Medical Ultrasound at Bournemouth University, earning over 180 credits in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and image-guided MSK injections. She has been a member of ARDMS since 2003, APCA since 2015, and, since arriving in the UK, has been a member of the Society of Radiographers (SOR), Public Voluntary Register of Sonographers (PVRS), and the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS).
In 2012, Daniela founded Sonoworld Diagnostic Services, a private ultrasound practice in London, where she serves as Director and Lead Consultant Sonographer. She provides advanced ultrasound services including Breast, Abdomen, Pelvis, Obstetric, Thyroid and Neck, soft-tissue assessment, comprehensive Vascular studies, and the full spectrum of Musculoskeletal imaging. Sonoworld also offers innovative wellbeing screening programmes designed to detect both common and rare conditions at an early stage, supporting preventative care and reducing the risk of serious illness.
Sonoworld Diagnostic Services is structured to provide efficient, patient-focused care with flexible appointments, no waiting lists, and extended opening hours, including evenings and weekends. The clinic prioritises rapid diagnosis, high-quality imaging, and seamless referral pathways, helping to reduce patient anxiety and optimise clinical outcomes.
Most recently, in February 2025, Daniela completed the Master Course at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital, earning the Licentiate of the Faculty of Homeopathy (LFHom) in the UK.
