Mr David Baxter

Mr David Baxter is an experienced consultant neurosurgeon and spinal surgeon in south London and central London, nationally recognised for his expertise in full endoscopic spinal surgery and the management of complex spinal conditions. His areas of practice include sciatica, spinal stenosis, slipped discs, arm and back pain, spinal injections, lumbar discectomy and spinal endoscopy. He privately practises at Platinum Medical Centre (HCA), King Edward VII's Hospital, LIPS Healthcare Battersea Power Station Clinic, and Spire St Anthony's Hospital.

Mr Baxter provides comprehensive care for adult spinal conditions, managing referrals from across the UK, and his clinical practice covers degenerative spinal disease, disc pathology, radiculopathy, myelopathy, spondylolisthesis and spinal trauma, as well as chronic neck and back pain. He delivers both elective and emergency spinal surgery and is known for a minimally invasive, tissue-preserving approach designed to reduce postoperative pain and support faster recovery.

Mr Baxter trained extensively in London and completed a neurotrauma fellowship at a major London teaching hospital, followed by specialist fellowships in paediatric and adult spinal deformity at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. This advanced training underpins his expertise in complex spinal pathology and modern surgical techniques.

He adopts a patient-centred, evidence-based approach, with a strong emphasis on education, shared decision-making and non-surgical treatment wherever appropriate. When surgery is required, he uses full endoscopic spinal techniques alongside advanced image-guided and navigated spinal surgery to deliver precise, minimally invasive care.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Baxter is an associate professor of neurosurgery at University College London. His research focuses on spinal cord injury, neuromodulation and emerging technologies in spinal surgery. He is principal investigator on multiple clinical trials, including work exploring spinal cord neuromodulation to restore bladder and bowel function, and collaborates on national research programmes in scoliosis and spinal surgery outcomes. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and is an international proctor in endoscopic spinal surgery.
