Dr Dominic Heaney

Dr Dominic Heaney is an experienced consultant neurologist with over 16 years of dedicated clinical practice. He privately practises at Cleveland Clinic London. He specialises in epilepsy, obstetric neurology, general neurology, headaches, and migraines.

Dr Heaney completed his undergraduate degrees at Cambridge University and Oxford University, and in 2007 he completed a PhD with the University College London on the economic aspects of epilepsy treatment. He was appointed as both a consultant neurologist and honorary senior lecturer at University College London from 2009 – 2018.

He has played a pivotal role in developing and expanding neurology services in both the UK and internationally, and has held key leadership positions, including as lead of the clinical liaison team at Queen Square in partnership with University College London Hospitals (UCLH). Dr Heaney was instrumental in establishing the obstetric neurology and first seizure services from the ground up, as well as initiating a two-year community epilepsy service pilot in Camden and expanding neurology services within the Gibraltar Health Authority.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr Heaney has significant management experience. He served as Deputy Clinical Director for Queen Square Division for four years and spent a decade as the Caldicott Guardian, overseeing trust-wide governance.

Dr Heaney is also a highly sought-after medico-legal expert, with over five years of experience analysing more than 250 cases. He provides expert written and oral testimony for personal injury and criminal cases, including those involving motorists. A strong advocate for patient-centred care, Dr Heaney combines his clinical acumen with academic excellence and a commitment to service development. His contributions to governance and innovation reflect his dedication to advancing neurology care and improving patient outcomes.
