Mr Edward Britton

Mr Edward Britton is a consultant hip and knee surgeon in York with expertise in knee replacement, hip replacement, knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, sports injuries, knee surgery, knee osteoarthritis and meniscus surgery. He privately practises at Nuffield Health York Hospital and Clifton Park Hospital, while his NHS base is York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

He specialises in all aspects of hip and knee care, from joint preservation and soft tissue conditions to complex joint replacement and revision procedures. He has a particular interest in sports and joint-preserving surgery, including arthroscopic hip and knee surgery, meniscal repair and reconstruction, cartilage surgery, knee osteotomy and ligament reconstruction such as ACL and MPFL procedures. He also has an interest in treating patellofemoral instability and complex lower limb trauma.

Mr Britton completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of London in 2001, obtaining a BSc (Hons) in orthopaedic sciences and an MBBS. His higher surgical training took place on the Royal London Hospital orthopaedic rotation. He completed three advanced fellowships, including the Royal Melbourne Fellowship, a high-volume arthroplasty fellowship at St Peter’s Hospital in Surrey, and the Basingstoke Knee Fellowship with Professor Wilson, focusing on knee osteotomy techniques.

He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of several professional bodies including the British Orthopaedic Association, British Medical Association, British Hip Society, British Association for Surgery of the Knee and the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy.
