Mr Faisal Ahmed

Mr Faisal Ahmed is a leading consultant ophthalmic surgeon in London, specialising in cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery and multifocal lenses alongside complex glaucoma, complex cataract and secondary glaucoma. He privately practises at The London Clinic, Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital and Thames View at Charing Cross Hospital, while his NHS base is Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, where he was Head of Ophthalmology. 

Mr Ahmed is highly experienced in performing complex cataract surgeries and innovative combined cataract and glaucoma procedures. In 2020, he was the first surgeon globally to use a new glaucoma device, the EyePlate, and he continues to use the latest intra-ocular lenses. He regularly shares his expertise at both national and international conferences, including the Royal Society of Medicine.

As an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College London, Mr Ahmed is involved in teaching advanced surgical techniques. He frequently trains other surgeons, who come from the UK and abroad to learn from him through observerships and fellowships. He has published papers in scientific journals and contributed to the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ NHS e-learning platform, where he writes on emerging laser and surgical treatments for glaucoma.

Mr Ahmed trained for over five years at Moorfields Eye Hospital, including a period as an Honorary Research Fellow in glaucoma. He has also held the role of National Coordinator for World Glaucoma Day, working with the Glaucoma Alliance to improve patient care and public awareness. He is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the European Glaucoma Society and the International Society of Glaucoma Surgery.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Ahmed volunteers with Humanity First. He founded the charity’s medical supplies department and authored its Medical Disaster Response course manuals, which were later used by the UK government in their own disaster response training.
