Mr Gary Maytham is a top consultant vascular surgeon based in London, who specialises in treating varicose veins, peripheral vascular and arterial disease, and abdominal aortic aneurysms. He is also well-versed in treating diabetic foot conditions. He holds several prominent positions, including Care Group Lead for the St George Hospital's Vascular Institute and Clinical Lead for Vascular Trauma at the Major Trauma Centre. He is also responsible for delivery of vascular services at Epsom Hospital, where he serves as an honorary consultant.
Mr Maytham completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, before moving to the United Kingdom in 1998 after he qualified to continue his surgical training in the South West Thames region and at the Royal London Hospital. He went on to earn a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree from the University of Sheffield for postgraduate vascular research investigating clinical recovery in a model of chronic moderate ischaemia.
Mr Maytham is involved in surgical training and serves as a member of the faculty on numerous surgical training courses delivered by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has published and delivered international presentations on his specialist interests, including the management of venous conditions with particular reference to the management of central venous stenosis.
