Mr Sudip Ray
Professional statement
Mr Sudip Ray is a consultant vascular surgeon of outstanding skill and expertise. Private patients can access his first-rate vascular care at his renowned clinics in Wimbledon, Kingston and the Channel Islands.
Mr Ray has worked in all aspects of venous and arterial diseases. He has a keen subspecialist interest in sclerotherapy and minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, including the VNUS closure procedure, for varicose veins. He is the UK lead trainer and an international trainer of the VenaSeal Closure System, an innovative outpatient procedure that allows veins to be closed safely and effectively with a specially formulated medical adhesive.
Additionally, Mr Ray is also an expert in the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and was the chairman of the Thrombosis Group at Kingston Hospital. He also assists patients with the assessment and treatment of lower limb peripheral arterial diseases such as arterial blockages of the legs (claudication) and swelling.
After qualifying from Oxford University and completing extensive surgical training in London, he underwent a travelling fellowship in widely recognised vascular centres at UCLA, California, and Albany Medical Centre, New York. He has held NHS post at Kingston and Charing Cross Hospitals since 2000.
Mr Ray's interest in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery keeps him at the forefront of implementing the latest technologies in his procedures. Many of his patients require day case outpatient procedures, and he aims to get all patients free and back to their normal lifestyle as quickly as possible after venous and arterial treatment.

- A very helpful and reassuring consult
- A wonderful doctor, authoritative specialist, clear and sympathetic
- The whole process and experience has been exemplary. Sudip was excellent. I was very nervous of the procedure even though there was no way it could be done. Throughout, Sudip both cared and listened. And the outcomes are wonderful. Thanks ever so…
- Excellent care by Mr Ray. Arrival in reception could have been more welcoming. No guidance on how to work tea/coffee machine. Minor on the grand scheme of things.
- I have had the best experience during my outpatient and inpatient interactions with Mr Ray. He explained the pros and cons of the surgery to close a vein in my thigh where the valve had stopped working and target some smaller veins in my calf. We agreed the optimal timing for surgery due to my need to fly with my job, and proceeded with the surgery in December 2025. Mr Ray was available on the phone to me in the days following the surgery which was very reassuring. 5 start experience.
- My room was cold. It took 30 minutes for the central heating to sork
- Excellent on all aspects of care from being highly informative, skilled in the procedure, and great post-procedure care including fluid communication. Would wholeheartedly recommend
- Dr Ray and his team were polite, friendly and efficient. I felt confident with the diagnosis and the treatment of the condition that I had. All my questions were answered clearly and Mr Ray ensured that I had a full understanding of what was going on.
