Dr Haga Kargwell is a Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist at the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences, Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. With 23 years of experience in clinical neurophysiology, she specialises in the investigation and diagnosis of neurological disorders using advanced neurophysiological techniques.

Her clinical practice covers the full range of clinical neurophysiology investigations, including electroencephalography (EEG), prolonged video EEG telemetry, ambulatory EEG, electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction studies (NCS), and evoked potentials. She has extensive experience in the diagnosis of epilepsy, peripheral neuropathies, neuromuscular disorders, motor neurone disease, radiculopathies, and other disorders affecting the central and peripheral nervous systems.

Dr Kargwell has a particular specialist interest in complex epilepsy and the pre-surgical evaluation of patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. She is an integral member of the multidisciplinary epilepsy surgery team, contributing to the planning and interpretation of stereo electroencephalography (SEEG) investigations. Her role includes analysing invasive EEG recordings, performing cortical stimulation for seizure localisation and functional brain mapping, and producing the final neurophysiological reports that inform surgical decision-making.

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Kargwell serves as the Training Programme Director for Clinical Neurophysiology in the North West. She leads postgraduate specialist training across the region, overseeing curriculum delivery, trainee development, assessment, and educational quality. She is passionate about supporting the next generation of consultant clinical neurophysiologists and is actively involved in teaching, mentoring, and educational leadership.

Dr Kargwell has contributed to service development within clinical neurophysiology, helping to advance specialised neurodiagnostic services and improve patient care through multidisciplinary collaboration. She works closely with neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, neuropsychologists, epilepsy specialist nurses, and allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive care for patients with complex epilepsy which difficult to treat.
